Algeria was right, you can not negotiate with these terrorists, their demands are always for the release of other terrorists. If you give into the demands, this only encourages more terrorists to find hostages. When negotiating the terrorists will only start to kill hostages one by one to prove their point and resolve.
While at home in the UK, in a siege situation, you can negotiate and try to reason with the hostage taker, but terrorists are not open to reason.
It is said bring in the SAS and yes, they may have done a better job, who knows, but this is not in the UK. Algeria is an independent country and must be allowed to proceed how they wish. Lets face , would we like it if an other country tried to take over a similar situation in the UK.
Any innocent deaths will always be regrettable, but even SAS rescues are not always successful.
Be thankful some have come through, relatively unharmed.
