We all have problems with banks and this is not new, except today banks admit, mostly, when problems do occur.
I was employed in the finance industry during the late 60's - early 90's and during the course of processing business from customers, had to deal with many of the banks of that period. When problems with payments occurred, I knew when the problem was with my company and when this was with the customers banks. But, without question, the banks never admitted to their customers when they were at fault, it was always their policy to blame my company and other similar companies.
As to Lloyds TSB they are no better or worse than other banks of today, and within this statement, I also include Building Societies, as many of today's Societies operate on a similar basis as banks. So do not believe some advertising, where at least one states' You do need a bank account. You don't need a bank'.
Problems will always occur, but hopefully each problem will be short lived.
