Another Tony Blair policy not good for the UK. How can anyone employed in a public position be given a job if they can not speak English. Why stop with the money spent on translating documents into other languages. Why is it an organisations responsibility to provide interpreters, the responsibility should be down to the person who can not speak the language of the country in which they reside.
I would not go as far as to say all persons living in the UK should learn to speak English, as how many English living abroad bother to learn the language of the country they have moved to. But no one should expect to receive official help to understand the official language. If they wish to live in that country, that is solely their own responsibility.
